Thermal Imaging
Thermal monoculars, clip-ons and attachments from NGS and other trusted brands – detect heat signatures in total darkness, day or night.
Thermal imaging monoculars, binoculars and clip-ons
A thermal imager sees heat instead of light. People and animals stand out clearly against a cooler background – in total darkness, in light fog or behind thin vegetation – which makes thermal the best tool for detection at long range. We offer NGS thermal monoculars and clip-on thermals such as the JerryC PRO that pair with night vision.
How to choose a thermal imager
- Sensor resolution – 384×288 is a good start; 640×512 shows more detail at distance and a wider view.
- Sensitivity (NETD) – a lower value in mK means finer temperature differences and a cleaner image in difficult weather.
- Lens and magnification – a shorter lens gives a wide view for scanning, a longer lens more range for identification.
- Form factor – handheld monocular, binocular with laser rangefinder, helmet-mountable unit, or a clip-on that works with your existing optic.
Advice before you buy
Thermal specifications are easy to overstate. Tell us what you want to detect and at what distance, and a technician will recommend a device that really fits. You can compare thermal and night vision side by side in our showroom in Topoľčany or rent a device first.
Frequently asked questions
Can thermal imaging see through walls or glass?
No. Thermal imagers cannot see through walls, and normal glass blocks thermal radiation. They do see through darkness, smoke and light fog, and they detect warm targets in vegetation well.
What thermal resolution do I need?
For general observation at shorter distances 384×288 works well. For more detail at longer distances, or a wide field of view with good detail, choose 640×512.
Is thermal imaging better than night vision?
For detecting people and animals, yes. For identification, navigation and moving at night, night vision shows more detail. Many users combine both, for example with a thermal clip-on or overlay.
Can I use a thermal imager for hunting?
Thermal observation devices are widely used by hunters. Rules for using them during the hunt differ between EU countries, so always check your national hunting regulations.
Talk to a technician, not a sales script.
We build, test and service night vision ourselves. Tell us how you’ll use it and we’ll recommend the right setup – or come and try it in real darkness in our showroom.
