Devices & tubes
What is the difference between night vision and thermal imaging?
Night vision amplifies the light that is already there (moon, stars, sky glow) and shows a detailed, natural image – ideal for identification, navigation and moving at night. Thermal imaging detects heat and works in total darkness – ideal for detecting people and animals at long range. Many users combine both.
What does FOM mean?
FOM (figure of merit) is the tube resolution in line pairs per millimetre multiplied by its signal-to-noise ratio. It is a quick way to compare image intensifier tubes: a higher FOM generally means a clearer image in low light.
Green or white phosphor – which should I choose?
Neither is better in every situation. White phosphor shows a black-and-white image with natural-looking contrast that many users find less tiring; green phosphor is the proven classic and is often more affordable. If you are unsure, compare both in our showroom.
Monocular or binocular?
A monocular such as the PVS-14 is lighter, more versatile and more affordable. A binocular (for example the LLI MH-1 / UH-1 or BNVD 3114) adds depth perception and comfort for long use, especially helmet-mounted while walking. Many users start with a PVS-14 and move to binoculars later.
Can I choose the tube in my NGS night vision device?
Yes. NGS night vision devices are built to order, so you choose the tube, FOM range and phosphor colour. A technician will help you match the tube to your use and budget.
How is an NGS night vision device built and tested?
Every NGS night vision device is assembled by hand in our lab in Slovakia, purged with nitrogen and fully tested before it ships – every device, not a sample from a batch. You receive the tube datasheet, a quality checklist and an NGS service book with it.
Do you also sell other brands?
Yes. Next to our own NGS devices we offer selected night vision, thermal and accessory brands we trust and use ourselves, such as Low Light Innovations and KOLIBRI.works.
Ordering & payment
Which payment methods do you accept?
Payment cards (Visa, Mastercard), Google Pay and Apple Pay through Comgate, and bank transfer. Every order comes with a VAT invoice.
Some products say “Request a quote” instead of a price. Why?
These devices are built individually and their price depends on the configuration – usually the tube. Send us a request and we will prepare a quote for exactly the setup you need.
How long does it take to receive a built-to-order device?
It depends on the configuration and tube availability. Each product page shows the current availability, and for built-to-order devices we confirm the expected date with you before we start.
Can I buy as a company and get a VAT invoice?
Of course. Enter your company details and VAT ID at checkout. Dealers and resellers can also join our B2B partner programme with partner pricing on request.
Shipping & returns
Do you ship across the EU?
Yes, we ship to all European Union countries with tracking, in premium protective packaging. Orders over 1 000 € get free or reduced shipping.

Our online store serves customers within the EU. Supplies outside the EU – for example for public tenders – are handled through our licensed partner. See Tenders or contact us.
Can I return my order?
Consumers in the EU can withdraw from a purchase within 14 days of delivery. Please contact us first at info@nightgearsolutions.eu and we will guide you through the return.
Service & care
How long is the warranty?
Legal guarantee: 24 months from delivery on the whole product – for night vision this includes the image intensifier tube (EU consumer law). If a defect is fixed by repair, the period is extended by 12 months after the first repair.
NGS warranty on night vision devices: 24 months on the device and 12 months on the image intensifier tube (IIT). It is provided on top of your legal guarantee and never limits your statutory rights. Business customers get the same 24 / 12 months under our B2B terms.
Normal tube ageing within the specification on the data sheet is not a defect; damage from strong light, impact, water or unauthorised opening is not covered by the NGS warranty. Details: Return & complaints policy.
Do you service night vision bought elsewhere?
Yes. Our lab handles diagnostics, cleaning, purging and repairs of night vision devices, including ones not bought from us. See Maintenance & repairs.
How much does a diagnosis cost?
The diagnostic fee is 100 €. If you accept the repair offer, the fee is waived.
Is purging included with NGS devices?
Yes – every NGS night vision device includes one free nitrogen purging service, and we replace O-rings free of charge.
How do I take care of my night vision device?
Keep the lens caps on in daylight, never point the device at bright light, remove the battery for storage and keep it dry. Our care page has the full guide – and if anything feels wrong, just write to us.

Can I try a device before buying?
Yes. Visit our showroom in Topoľčany, Slovakia (Mon–Fri 10:00–17:00, ideally by appointment) and compare devices with a technician.
Can you bring devices to me for a night demonstration?
